Hard Drives are just getting tinier and tinier and Freecom seems to be leading the pack on this miniaturization craze. Their latest offering, the Mobile Drive Mg, is only 10mm thick! That’s thin enough to forget it’s even in your pocket. But can something so small be worth the price?
Thin apparently doesn’t mean small anymore because the Mobile Drive Mg is available in two storage sizes starting at 320GB and going all the way up to 750GB. That’s pretty impressive in such a small package but how breakable is this thing? You don’t have to worry (unless you sit on it) to protect the delicates inside, the case is manufactured from magnesium.
So, where do you get your hands on one of these? Through Apple Premium Resellers only. It’s an on hiccup of the kind you don’t see too often in the retail world but there you have it.

Acer Aspire One D255 outdoes its D260 Little Brother

Sporting the same 10.1 inch design its younger brother the D260 does, the D255 doesn’t look much different at first. However, when you dig a little deeper (and by that I mean crack the case and look at the guts) it’s a slightly better machine though the external design is a bit tired.
While most users won’t notice the internal changes, they may notice the new, less glittery color scheme Acer has chosen to go with and they will definitely spot the incredibly large logo on the front of the case. I don’t know why the company (who became as “hot” as they are—and that’s an extremely relative term) for slapping together bargain PCs in cutsie colors with pretty much the same functionality across the board thinks users want to advertise the fact that they only paid $250 for their “netty.”

computers 20 years from now

I think the next twenty years will see a lot of development for the computers but will we still have a keyboard and mouse ?

I recall and predict as well look out seeing a new miniature that computers(computer technology) in the future will continue to grow at an exponential rate ,technology becoming faster at a faster rate, until there is one new innovation related to computer technology that changes everything else. Rinse and repeat.

I think computers dont have much more to go but in preattiness. And it that it still doesn't have much left. I think computers will need to get inovative, alot more confortable, use alot less Watts, bigger screens(they get cheaper to do), and alot more intergrated into the whole household...maybe thought.

Computers have just begun. We are witnessing the teething stage of the life of the computer, not it's middle-age. They will never go away and they will get better all the time. When you say they have nowhere to go except in their aesthetic appeal I personally think that you are missing something. The ultimate computers are the ones you won't even notice. They will be in your clothes, in your wallet, in your couch and someday they will be in your body

I think if you added more keys, you might scare some people that are already intimidated by a computer. More likely, input will be better facilitated by ergonomic devices. Man can and will make more intelegent computers(software and hardware) than Man, but he'll never make a computer to have feelings. I would guess that anyone believing that doesn't know much about how computers work.Computer will be advantage in the businesses but it will be.

Actually, I am more amazed at how little the actual "user experience" has changed in the past twenty or more years. Let's face it, we're all using fancy-ass, super-fast Xerox PARCs with vintage 1970s technology: Keyboards, mice and windowing-OS's are almost thirty years old. If you go back thirty years before that, computers took up entire buildings and were programmed by hard-wiring!

You make some interesting, and not entirely untruthful, observations. Certainly my computer is much faster now than at any time in the past for office tasks (Core 2 duo at 3.4Ghz, 2 gigs of ram - so not only word loads instantaneously, but pdfs in acrobat do as well). Another big revolution has been the capacity to handle video, so you get not only youtube, but can watch tv episodes via bittorrent. But the user experience hasn't changed that much.

I imagine we'll definitely see some big changes in input devices, although the idea of no keyboard or mouse seems pretty alien to me. We could conceivably see voice recognition replace a lot of input chores, although the demonstrations so far haven't been so wonderful.

The current user experience is very friendly. The computer is still treated as a tool, but it is easy to learn about and use effectively,and more efficient than the past.

Now we know that we made the right decision. It is really inevitable, that we must not be left behind in today's fast-paced technology.. .Computers have become more advanced at tracking weather patterns and creating more accurate prediction models.

Meetings at which every participant has a computer – and the meeting’s progress appears on a ‘decision spreadsheet’ projected on one wall, on which the pros and cons of the argument are analyzed for all to see.” In most meetings today, it’s not uncommon for everyone to have a laptop and mobile device during a meeting. Today, virtual meetings are commonly held online using services like WebEx.

The article predicted that “Groupware will permit an officeful of people to collaborate on, for example, a magazine advertisement, with artists, copywriters and salespeople all contributing, via computer, to the project. When a writer changes a line of copy, it will instantly show up in the layout on the designer’s computer screen.”

In the next twenty years, society will push for greater integration between computers and their users - us. An intersting project codenamed "Digital Angel" sprang up about six years ago, with the intent of implanting people with GPS tracking microchips. I don't know what happened to this project, but to me, its some kind of precursor to the future of society.

This is one of the most open questions ever; the most approximate answer is "WHO KNOWS?!?!?". It's much easier to guess what will the world be like after 20 years, will this humanity still exist or not, what will the sea level be etc. Especially now that the silicon process is slowly facing a dead end, nobody really knows, now ever, we all notice some slowdown in the progression; there is no more doubling the frequency (& performance) every year like 6-7 years ago and even though Intel and AMD are pushing more than ever,the greatest chip in 3 years, Core2, only managed ~30%+ compared to 1 year old AMD designs.

The future of computer technology is a very bright one indeed. The current trends tell us this, as well as the research and development that is happening at lightning pace. The children today will have a whole new technological world waiting for them tomorrow. And tomorrow isn't that far away.

As the entire words, computer today's and in the future are useful and helpful to each one of us because through computer you can do anything that cannot do in our mind,but all of this things is in Gods will.. because God is powerful than the computer, is only a discovery of his beloved people..
